Maybe some of you have experienced itching and irritation of the skin until it is red or white. The worse itching experienced is in damp and hard to reach areas. It could be Candidiasis. What is Candidiasis? candidiasis is a  disease of skin acute or subacute. Definition of Candidiasis, namely infection caused by Candida albicans or other species of the genus Candida.

The most common areas for candidiasis infection are the mouth and around the sex, organs caused by intermediate fungi. Other parts can also infect the skin, nails, mucous membranes and internal organs, mucous membranes, and gastrointestinal tract.

Generally, Candidiasis occurs in women. But it does not rule out that men can also get this infection, you know. It turns out that people with weak immunity such as cancer sufferers, or immune diseases such as HIV or AIDS, the spread of candidiasis yeast infection throughout the body will be faster, and this condition is life-threatening.

Candidiasis can be divided into several types, namely:

  1. Mucous Candidiasis

Oral/oropharyngeal Candidiasis

Oropharyngeal candidiasis is an infection that develops in the mouth or throat (CDC, 2016). This candidiasis appears as discrete white patches that can become confluent on the buccal mucosa,  tongue,  palate, and gums.

Vulvovaginal Candidiasis

Vulvovaginal candidiasis called infectious fungus (yeast) of the vagina is a common infection that occurs when there is an overgrowth of the fungus candida. However, when there is an imbalance such as changes in vaginal acidity or hormonal changes, Candida can multiply.

Balanitis / Balanopostitis Candidiasis

Candidiasis balanitis is candidiasis that occurs in the glans penis, whereas balanoposthitis affects the glans penis and prepuce in men who have not been circumcised. Looks erosion red superficial and thin-walled pustules over the glans penis.

  1. Candidiasis Kurtis

Candidiasis cutis is an infectious disease of the skin caused by the genus Candida fungus.

Intertrigo Cutaneous Candidiasis

Candidiasis intertrigo is an infection of the skin caused by Candida albicans, specifically located between the adjacent intertriginous folds of skin. The clinical picture shows an itchy red patch, beginning with enlarged and ruptured vesiculopustules.

Chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis

Candidiasis is a  heterogeneous infection of the hair, nails, skin, and mucous membranes that persists despite therapy, characterized by chronic infection of candida, which is limited to the mucosal surface, skin, and nails.

Paronychia Candidiasis

Candidiasis paronychia is an inflammation of the nail fold, caused by Candida albicans. You will see that the nail fold area becomes erythematous, swollen, and tender, with occasional discharge.

Candidiasis Onychomycosis

The most common symptom of a  toenail fungus infection is thickened nails and turns white, black, yellow, or green. As the infection progresses the nails can become brittle.

Congenital Cutaneous Candidiasis

Congenital cutaneous candidiasis is a skin condition in newborns caused by rupturing of the membranes causing Candida albicans to become infected.

Diaper Rash

Diaper rash candidiasis is an infection by Candida albicans in the diaper area in children.

Candidiasis Kutis Generalisata

Candidiasis is found on the glabrous skin, breast folds, intergluteal, and umbilicus.

Unspecified Candidiasis

A condition in which Candida albicans grows out of control in areas of moist skin. This condition will occur when the body’s immune system weakens. Candidiasis is a disease that cannot be underestimated because the fungus that continues to be left alone will increasingly spread to other organs.
